Ruined- littlegem wearing only fishnet stockings, running towards a church tower ruin

The Prompt for Sinful Sunday this week is an outtake picture.

It’s not really a prompt you can plan for. Although I have plenty of photos we take that I don’t like, none of them really fell into the ‘outtake’ category.

That was until we were driving home from a day out at the weekend and spotted a set of church tower ruins. PurpleSole pulled over the car and asked if I wanted to just check it out. We had the kids in the back asleep and could only park on the other side of the road so I wasn’t comfortable with us both getting out. I agreed and took the camera with me just in case.

Walking around the ruins it was just too pretty not to try and capture an image. As I was on my own and had no tripod with me, I rested the camera in the branch of a tree and set it for self timer. A quick look around, no cars, I removed my clothes. I ran towards the ruins but didn’t quite make it.

After the first failure I thought I would have a quick second attempt. I took my fishnets off and set the camera to self time once more. Looked around shit, a car had pulled up beside the church and I could see the driver and passenger looking directly at me. Fuck, fuck, fuck what do I do? I had already pressed the button so thought I would just run. The bit inside the church would provide some cover anyway. Turns out the adrenaline made me run a bit faster, I managed to get into the tower.

I have no idea what I am doing with my arms…

I waited but no shouting or cry’s of horror, tentatively I ran back to the tree. Grabbed my clothes and camera and got back dressed in the tower ruins. Stuffing my fishnets and bra in my pinafore dress for speed and ran back to the car.

PurpleSole remarked that he could see the couple in the car had a good giggle when they must have seen me. Hopefully I hadn’t ruined their day.

  1. Still beautiful shots nonetheless! 🙂 The one with your arms out is quite Aphrodite-like, similar to a sculpture I saw a few years ago. I would have done exactly the same re: the couple, just run and hide! xD Something you can look back on and have a chuckle at!

    1. Thank you, that’s a very nice way of describing it my odd arm position lol. Yeah I’m glad there was somewhere to hide, I don’t know what I would have done if they had come and found me though. *hides face*

  2. That looks like an amazing place Gem – and still they are fab photos. I won’t link but have a photo in a church too – if u search on my site “diamonds” it will come up top x

  3. Even though it’s technically not what you were aiming for I love the cropped version especially. It looks to me as if you’re approaching that open ‘window’ section of the ruins expectantly. As if something or somewhere is waiting for you there. It’s a really thought provoking image x

  4. Such beautiful images, I love the blue filter and the way your hair is moving. I wish I could see the bottom one better, but I’m not complaining about what I can see!
    Indie xx

  5. Oh this made me giggle. I have done similar things myself. I love the way your hair is moving in the first picture though, it really shows the movement of you running.

    1. Thank you Molly. I think this has been a great prompt, seeing photos that would otherwise be discarded in a different positive light.

  6. Brilliant photo(s) . . . and wonderful story of your adventure.
What we do for our art . . . but it all adds to the fun and thrill doesn’t it.
And yours have made for wonderful photos.
    Love this !!!

  7. I love the story behind this…I’m just not brave enough but I love stories like this and Molly’s where you are taking photos in more risky spots! The images are beautiful. In the one you probably think of as “funny arms” you remind me of a very striking the Mary Magdalene carving I saw in Florence…which I suppose is quite apt in the ruins 🙂

  8. “Ruined their day”, indeed. I bet you made their day.

And those photos, especially the bottom one, have helped make mine.

Really lovely images. The setting is beautiful, and you look fantastic!

  9. These are wonderful! Someday I would like to be brave enough to take photos outside alone, in the meantime I will just admire the amazing photo shoots like this! I love both photos, but the one of you standing in the alcove is my favorite. You look like a statue come to life!

    1. Thank you. It wasn’t too long ago that I wouldn’t have taken photos like this outside either, I think I had smaller good experiences which built my confidence for it.

  10. Oh I love this, Gem. I can imagine outdoors provides all sorts of hazards like this. You look great!

  11. I love these photos and the story. I like what you’re doing with your arms! I do that too because I never seem to know what to do with my hands and then look back and wonder what I was thinking. You look so graceful though!

  12. This is absolutely stunning and ethereal and beautiful, I love the sense of movement in the shot and had a chuckle at the words, good job! Very much in awe of your freedom for these amazing outdoor shoots, I love them!

  13. I’m fairly sure you made their day!

I do love outside photography, it’s always fun and there’s always something that doesn’t quite go to plan.
